Policy & Practice
The Institute's approach to policy and practice is built upon the benefits of a strong, cohesive palliative care community which combines a strong evidence-base, reciprocity and engagement with all stakeholders, to improve the palliative care experience for patients and their families.
The Institute will support the dissemination of expertise and good practice to enable the ongoing development of palliative care across the island
The Institute will work closely with key policy-makers and service commissioners to drive evidence-based policy change which enable developments to palliative care that are equitable and just.
The end of life care experience of users, carers and communities is central to policy and practice. It is essential that there is strong engagement with the general public on palliative care issues. To this end, the Institute will emphasise a community development approach, with a focus on changing community behaviours in relation to death, dying and loss.
